Kenya’s
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport closes ahead of Independence Day
Preparations are ongoing for the
celebrations of Kenya’s Independence Day on the 12th of December. Subsequently,
in order to allow Kenya’s air force to train for their fly by maneuvers on the
date, the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport will be temporarily closed today,
25th of November from 11.00 AM to 12.00 noon, and on the 07th of December the
same time, sources have disclosed.
Again, on the very date of independence
-- 12th of December, the same restriction will apply and flights into and out
of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport will be delayed accordingly until after
the air force’s aerial display is completed.
TTW has gathered that in accordance
with these restrictions, RwandAir has subsequently issued a delay warning for
its flight from Entebbe via Nairobi to Kigali to accommodate the airspace
closure.
