A very heavy thunder storm occurred at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu in the early hours of November 23, 2016, destroying some parts of the Airport Terminal Building and Pilot Lounge and General Aviation Terminal, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced.

The authority added in a statement that the storm also affected Electric Power Lines to the Airport, including FAAN Staff Secondary and Primary School Buildings. It also affected some private residential buildings.

She added that the Management regrets the inconveniences caused by the incident and appealed to airport users and the general public to carry on with their travel arrangements without fear.
