Travelling to the best tourist destinations in the world could be fascinating, yet expensive. But don’t worry, you can now choose from 136 global cities ranked from cheapest to most expensive in the newly released Backpacker Index. 

Although the $ amounts are meant for budget travelers like backpackers, the index can also be a useful indicator to people who have more money to spend.

2016 Backpacker Index ranked each location based on the following variables:

A dorm bed at a good hostel, 3 budget meals, 2 public transportation rides, 1 paid cultural attraction and 3 cheap beverages.
