Police
arrests man over London City Airport chemical incident
The Police have arrested a man on Saturday alleged
to be complicit of the chemical incident that led to the evacuation of London
City Airport last week.
The
man (25 year old) was arrested “on suspicion of using a noxious substance to
cause serious damage under section 113 of the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and
Security Act 2001,” police said in a statement.
But
after serious interrogation, the London’s Metropolitan Police said the incident
was not being treated as a terrorist-related matter. The man was later released
on bail.
About
500 people were evacuated from the terminal building on Friday, with some
treated by ambulance crews for breathing difficulties.
A
police statement later said “a subsequent search of the airport led to the
discovery of what is believed to be a CS gas or spray”.
